How to Get Your Printer Back Online?

  • You cannot communicate with your HP printer if the offline error occurs. You have to check whether it is turned off or in Hibernate mode. If so, press the Home button or restart your printer.
  • Once you have restarted your HP printer, check the cable connection. Make sure to use a standard USB cable to connect the printer to your computer. Firmly plug the USB cable into the computer's USB port.
  • On your computer, open the print application and try printing a test page to check if the printer offline problem has been resolved. If the problem persists, clear the print jobs from the print queue.
  • Besides, check your printer status on your computer. If you are using Windows OS, open the Control Panel app and choose Devices and Printers. Right-click on your printer's icon and select the See what's printing option.
  • You have to check your Canon printer's status if the offline printer message is displayed on the connected computer. If the printer is turned off, connect the printer's power cord correctly and power up the printer.
  • Verify whether you have properly connected the printer to the computer. Use only the standard cables while connecting the printer to other devices. For some Canon models, the USB cable will be provided along with the printer.
  • If you have connected your Canon printer over a Wi-Fi network, restart your router and reconnect your printer to it. Also, connect your computer to the same wireless network and check if the printer is back online.
  • If the problem persists, clear the print jobs and open the print application. Try printing a test page remotely from your computer. Doing so will ensure that the printer offline problem is resolved.
  • Sometimes, the Epson printers go offline due to bad connections. In such cases, check your USB or wired network connection and restart your printer to fix the offline printer problem.
  • To determine if your Epson printer can print without a computer, print a nozzle check pattern. If your printer can print it, go to the connected computer and clear the print jobs from the Epson print queue.
  • If you cannot print any pages, check for error messages on the printer's control panel. Open the printer's top cover and check for paper jams. If so, clear them to resolve the offline printer problem on your computer.
  • On your computer, open the print application and print a test page after clearing the print jobs from the Epson print queue. If you cannot print any documents, remove and reinstall the printer driver.
  • First, check if your Brother printer is turned off or in Sleep mode. If it is turned off, press the Power button on the printer's control panel to turn it on. If it in sleep or hibernate mode, hit the Home button.
  • If your device runs on the Windows 7 OS, click the Start menu and type 'printers' in the search box. Press the Enter key and choose the Devices and Printers option from the search result to access your printer settings.
  • Locate your printer in the Printers and Faxes section and give a right-click on it. Next, select the Set as default printer option from the pop-up menu. Doing so will fix the problem.
  • If the printer offline error remains unsolved, open the printing preferences window on your computer and verify the printer compatibility. If necessary, remove and reinstall the printer driver.
  • If your computer shows that your Lexmark printer is set to offline, click the Start menu, type 'control panel' in the search panel, and hit the Enter key. Doing so will open the Control Panel app.
  • Alternatively, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys and type 'control' in the text box. Click OK to open the Control Panel app on your Windows (Vista or XP) computer.
  • Go to the Devices or Printers section in the Control Panel window and choose your printer's icon from the displayed list of printers and other connected devices. Give a right-click on your printer's icon.
  • In the pop-up menu, select the Use Printer Online option. Doing so will bring your printer back online. If your printer remains in the offline state, clear the print jobs assigned previously and try printing again.
  • If your Xerox printer is set to offline, restart your printer and the computer. Check the connection between your Xerox printer and Windows computer. If necessary, disable SNMP Status Enabled in the Windows Printer Port.
  • To disable SNMP Status Enabled in the Windows Printer Port, click the Start menu on the desktop and type 'control panel' in the search field. Press the Enter key to open the Control Panel window.
  • Next, open the Devices and Printers window by selecting the Devices and Printers tab in the Control Panel window. Locate your printer and give a right-click on it to select the Printer Properties option.
  • Click the Ports tab in the Printer Properties window and select the Configure Port option. Deselect the SNMP Status Enabled option and click OK. If prompted, click OK to confirm your action and fix the offline problem.

To update your printer driver on a Windows computer, click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen or press the Windows key and then type 'device manager' in the search panel. The USB problem occurs when the connection has been cut off between the printer and the computer. It also occurs when the connected USB cable is not compatible with your device. In such cases, it is recommended to use a standard USB cable. If your printer fails to connect to the wireless network, check whether you have properly configured the wireless network settings in the printer's control panel. Place your printer close to the router to avoid network traffic issues. If necessary, restart your computer and printer. After restarting your printer, reconnect it to the wireless network using the correct network settings. If everything fails, reset your printer's network settings to factory defaults.

The offline printer problem is common in all types of printers. In most cases, the offline printer problem occurs when the communication between the printer and the computer fails. If this is the case, you can fix the offline problem be reestablishing the connection between them. If all the troubleshooting methods fail, you can reset the printer settings to factory defaults. To do so, use the Reset button, printer's control panel, or Printer adjustment program. If your printer supports a touchscreen control panel, navigate to the settings menu.
